Hallow's Victim is the second studio album by doom metal band Saint Vitus. Released in the fall of 1985, it would serve as one of the band's key albums though for many years somewhat of a rarity due to not seeing a CD pressing for decades. It would also serve as the last record to feature original singer Scott Reagers for a decade as he would be replaced by Scott Weinrich at his suggestion not long after it's release.
Background[]
Sometime after releasing the self-titled record, Saint Vitus would begin work on their follow-up album, working again at Redondo Beach with Joe Carducci and SPOT. Hallow's Victim would be released in August 1985 on Vinyl and Cassette, with a UK pressing early the next year. Strangely it would be the only Saint Vitus studio album to not get a CD issue (Along with The Walking Dead EP) when SST would issue many of their albums on CD. "War Is Our Destiny" and "White Stallions" would appear on Heavier Than Thou and for many years was the only way to hear these songs on CD.
With the band reuniting in 2009, SST would reissue the first four albums on LP and CD in 2010. In the case of Hallow's Victim it would be reissued with The Walking Dead and the Reagers-fronted version of "Look Behind You" as bonus tracks. The Church Within would do a remastered edition of Hallow's Victim with a bonus live disc from San Diego in 1984. SST would also do further LP reissues in 2011 and 2012, including a purple marbled edition.
