Groan was a band originating from Mława, Poland. The band released several demos through the 1990s in a run spanning a decade though member changes would ultimately lead to the group quietly disbanding by the end of the decade. The band incorporates elements of doom metal and progressive rock though the band's sound also draws from gothic and death metal.
History[]
Groan was founded in 1992 initially as The Thing. After many personnel problems, only two members remained in the group: Michal Pytlak (guitar) and Maciek Hincmanowski (drums). A name change and new members would join by the next year. A six-song demo in Myth would see release in 1993, gaining positive reception from underground press. A second demo in It What Has Been Forgotten would see release via Ceremony Records in the Summer of 1996. This would feature guest work from the likes of vocalist Anna Fabrello and violinist Robert Bielak, the latter known for his collboration with Neolithic. But personnel problems would arise when various members would leave the band.
Fabrello would soon permanently join the band along with other new members, which would lead to a four-song promo tape being recorded and released in 1998. he band's sound would evolve into more of a progressive art rock sound. However, Groan would quietly disband the next year. In regards to live shows very little information is known.
