Groan are a Doom Rock band originating from London, England. Forming in 2010 and described as "Riff Purveyors", this quartet earned a reputation as an exciting and totally entertaining force live, with charismatic lead singer Mazzereth acting as ringmaster general at gigs. To date the band has two studio albums amid other releases and has performed largely in England.

Groan formed sometime in 2010 and began releasing demos that caught the attention of the stoner/doom scene. They released their first album, The Sleeping Wizard, on Doomanoid Records circa 7 October 2010. The band soon earned a reputation as an exciting and totally entertaining force live, with charismatic lead singer Mazzereth acting as ringmaster general at gigs, sharing early gigs with the likes of Lord Vicar, Iron Void, The Lamp of Thoth and Witchsorrow among others.[1] Groan would perform gigs all over England in the nine months following the release of The Sleeping Wizard.

Signing with Soulseller Records, Groan would release The Divine Right of Kings on 26 October 2012, supporting the album with three music videos and touring with Trippy Wicked & the Cosmic Children of the Knight. 2013 would see new members in Zel Kaute on drums and Mike Pilat on guitar, leading into appearances at Desertfest London and Hard Rock Hell along with a new EP in Ride The Snake circa 10 December 2013. The band's lineup would change again in 2014 and return to the studio, this time with a new guitarist in Lindsey Hamilton.

A new EP in Highrosplifics saw release digitally on 23 March 2015 to positive reception. The band remained active albeit with more sporadic gigs. Groan would attain a new drummer in 2017 in Thomas Mowforth and perform frequent gigs in 2017 and 2018, the latter with a three-day tour of England. Following the mini-tour the band performed at Doom For The Doomed alongside the likes of Dead Witches among a host of England's modern underground doom acts. The band's last post on social media was in October 2018, with the status of the band currently unknown.[2]
