Goblin Cock are a heavy metal band from San Diego, California started as a metal side project of Pinback mastermind Rob Crow. Their music early on closely resembled doom and stoner metal but has drifted to more of a traditional heavy metal sound. The themes of the band are very tongue-in-cheek and play out almost as a satire of metal and swords-and-sorcery fantasy themes. All of the members take on stage names with Crow being known as Lord Phallus, for live performances the members adorned in cloaks.
History[]
Goblin Cock formed in 2005 and not long after released their first album Bagged and Boarded on Absolutely Kosher Records. Bagged and Boarded was nominated for a 2006 PLUG award for Metal Album of the Year. Their music video for the track "Stumped" directed by Matt Hoyt was also nominated for music Music Video of the Year at the 2006 PLUG Independent Music Awards as well.[1] The album cover as drawn by Magic: The Gathering artist Michael Sutfin is a literal depiction of the group's name, which could also be considered a double entendre and also featured lyrics in the liner notes written in runes. The band would tour for the first time in early 2006 at the 20th anniversary of SXSW, along with a string of dates alongside Blue Cheer and Kalas. They also performed on 15 September 2005, at the College Music Journal's annual music festival.
After a bit of a hiatus the band would return with a second album entitled Come With Me If You Want To Live on Robcore Records. A tour with Warship followed in 2009. After another hiatus The Cock would return with a third album titled Necronomidonkeykongimicon oon Joyful Noise Recordings in 2016 and a tour of the United States that same year.
