Goat Bong are an instrumental stoner metal band based out of Texas. Founded in 2012 by Mike Alcala, this project has independently released three albums and two EPs to date starting with Goat Worship & Sodomy on 31 October 2012 (Halloween). With exception to one EP in 2015, all of their releases have come out on Halloween.
The band's name derives from two things. The goat or domestic goat (Capra hircus) is a domesticated species of goat-antelope typically kept as livestock. The goat is a member of the animal family Bovidae and the tribe Caprini, meaning it is closely related to the sheep.[1] The other thing that derives the band's name is a bong. A bong (also known as a water pipe) is a filtration device generally used for smoking cannabis, tobacco, or other herbal substances.[2]
