Glass Torn And War Shortage: The Purposeful Poisoning Of A Shardless Society is a solo release by Mike IX Williams (Eyehategod, Outlaw Order, Arson Anthem, Corrections House) released through Bloomington, Indiana based macro-label Auris Aopthecary in late 2011.
Background[]
Auris Apothecary was started as an artistic noise/ambient label by Dante Augustus Scarlatti in 2009, specializing in limited musical releases on obscure and sometimes unplayable formats. At some point the label worked with Mike Williams and Ryan McKern to compose an anti-cassette in a similar vein to both artists music and ethos.
Glass Torn and War Shortage is an anti-cassette which has been coated with the dust and shards of actual broken glass, causing possible physical harm when opened or attempting to play the cassette. It has clear rigid plastic cases with white foam insert. Booklet laser-printed on white cardstock and clear transparency paper with stapled spine. Label laser-printed on translucent labels, case wax-sealed with clear wax. Cassette coated in broken glass. The release was limited to 199 copies and quickly sold out.
