Gandalf The Green are a psychedelic doom metal band originating from West Yorkshire. Initially as a quartet before evolving into a power trio, Gandalf The Green perform what they describe as "balls to the wall deep, fuzzy riffs, and trippy psychedelia" inspired by weed, fantasy and Lord of The Rings. To date the band has released an EP and two singles while performing a host of different gigs throughout the United Kingdom.

History[]

Gandalf The Green formed in August 2015 as the quartet of Flint, Walker, Wrigley and Winslade. A month after forming the band would release a digital single known as The Right.[1] The band's earliest known live performance would take place at Dravenfest circa June 2016.[2] Gandalf The Green would then release their first extended play, King of The Ashes, on 2 September 2016. The band would follow up with a handful of gigs and marquee bills through the year into the next.[3][4]

By May of 2017 however Lewis Winslade would leave the group and Jack Walker would take over on drums, turning the band into a power trio.[5] Gandalf The Green would perform various gigs over the next couple years be it local gigs, supporting touring acts or at fests alongside the likes of Boss Keloid and Sunnata to name a few.[6] Recording new material in December 2018, Gandalf The Green would unveil a new song and music video while also announcing that they had signed with APF Records. This new song would be entitled A Billion Faces, spanning thirteen minutes and thirty-three seconds and released digitally on 28 March 2019.[7] Following an appearance at Riffolution Festival,[8] Gandalf The Green would perform several shows in 2019, sharing the stage with the likes of Eyehategod, Green Lung, Lacertilia, Elephant Tree and Cybernetic Witch Cult among others. The band would go into 2020 as part of the APF Records Showcase and begin work on a debut album.
