Gammera was a stoner rock band based out of San Francisco. Performing largely in the West Coast and Western Canada, this stoner rock act would share the stage with a wide range of bands in a tenure lasting from 1996 - 2002. The band would release a single EP and album in their tenure.

The band's name is derived from the famous Kaiju Gamera.

History[]

Gammera would form in 1996 as a quartet, largely performing in the West Coast area of the United States. After releasing a demo in 1997 the band would sign with MeteorCity Records for the label's singles club, releasing Angelburner in November 1998. Early the next year would see a West Coast tour with Nebula and Los Natas. Work would begin on a studio album, resulting in Smoke and Mirrors in 2000, along with a West Coast tour with Los Natas and sharing the stage with numerous touring acts.

Gammera would go through a series of lineup changes in 2002 with their last shows on Friday 28 June at the Vista and Saturday 29 June at the 666 Party (6 Bands, 6 Kegs, 6 Bucks). On 20 September 2002 it would be announced that Gammera had disbanded, with the respective members pursuing other projects. Three members of the band would later form Secret Order of Tusk.[1]
