Website Floodstain Official

Floodstain is a stoner rock band with metal and sludge influeces since 2000 based in Spain. Fronted by Boy Overheid (aka Jozz), Floodstain's beginnings were initially in Holland but eventually Jozz, (and Floodstain, with him being the sole original member in the band), would travel to Belgium before settling in Spain. Details on their history are as fuzzy as their stoner sound, with many members coming and going at unknown times.

Ultimately their sound is that of a stoner rock base in a similar vein to Clutch, Fu Manchu or Down.

History[]

Floodstain initially started as a band named Between in the late 1990s as a band "trying to feel their sound out". In 2000, the band settled on Floodstain in Hellevoetsluis, the initial members being Jozz, his brother Johnny Spitfire, bassist Stefan Nederpeldt. The band would initially release a demo entitled Slaves To Cruise Control in 1999 before releasing their debut album Get It On the next year.

Nederpeldt would leave the group not long after the release due to creative differences. Which is why in 2004 Jozz and his brother recorded their second album, Take A Ride (released in 2005), together.

The band would gig frequently, though members would come and go, through 2006-2007 Floodstain recorded the third album Dreams Make Monsters (released dec 2007), with borrowed Heavy Lord musicians: Jeff on second guitar and Wouter 808 on drums, all songs were written by Jozz.

2007 is also the year when Floodstain got signed by BadMoonMan Records.

Not long after that Jozz moved to Belgium to eventually settle in L'Alfàs del Pi, Spain where he would work with new members, Bobysan (bassist) and Vesso (drums) to record the fourth studio album Slave to the Self-Feeding Machine (released in 2010 under BadMoonMan Records), being mastered by Billy Anderson.

The band, now based in Spain, started touring Europe frequently: France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, UK and Spain, following a string of four European tours.

The band would have conflicts with drummer Vesso and took a break, follwed by with Jozz and Bobysan starting a new band: Blues Weiser (a stoner bluesrock band with grunge influences and a lot of fuzz) with Senen on drums.

Floodstain released the album Demos + B-sides Volume 1 in 2014, containing never released songs recorded between 2000 and 2014.

During the break Senen stood in as the initial replacement before settling on drummer Pablo Doom in October 2014.  In 2015 the band would play a string of shows but by 2016, Pablo would join the military and soon after that the band had gone on a hiatus,

Blues Weiser became the main focus, but when Pablo was in town, the band would work on new material. In 2020 they released their latest work called Satanic Ampcraft a 25 minute song taking you on a trip in the land of amp crafting.
