Thieving From The House of God is the fifth studio album by the English heavy metal band Orange Goblin. It would see the band return to New Rising Studios (Where the previous album Coup de Grace would be recorded) along with producer Billy Anderson in his second production role on an Orange Goblin album. Notably it would be the first Orange Goblin album to feature the band as a quartet, following Pete O'Malley's departure. The album's title comes from the band's tour of Japan where drummer Chris Turner was trying to steal a flag from a Japanese temple. The album also notably features a cover of "Just Got Paid" by ZZ Top.

Thieving From The House of God would be initially released in 2004 on CD and an Orange Vinyl version, limited to 1000 copies.[1] A 7" single would be released for "Some You Win, Some You Lose" the same year, limited to 1000 copies with an exclusive b-side.[2] "Some You Win, Some You Lose" would also have a music video produced. In regards to releases outside of Europe The Music Cartel would release the album in North America (Notably one of the last releases for the label.) while JVC Victor would handle a CD release in the Japanese edition.

Thieving From The House of God would be re-issued as a remastered CD in 2011 and later reissuing the album on LP in 2018. Along with a remastered sound and liner notes, the re-issue would include three bonus tracks: "White Night Cyanide" which was recorded in the album sessions and released as a b-side, "New Rose" which is a Damned cover recorded in 2006 and "Bad Blues" which is actually a Japanese bonus track from Coup de Grace, though labeled as "Previously Unreleased".

Tracklist[]

All songs written by Ben Ward, Chris Turner, Joe Hoare and Martyn Millard except where noted. Tracks 12 - 14 are re-issue bonus tracks.
