Fuck The Fitzroy Doom Scene are a heavy/stoner rock quartet based out of Melbourne, Australia. Forming in early 2013 this band draws heavily from the 90s stoner rock style with touches of other rock elements and all four members handling vocal duties. Known for their top-notch musicianship and a name derived from a tongue-in-cheek comment,[1] Fuck The Fitzroy Doom Scene have released two studio albums to date and have shared the stage with many significant contemporaries in the stoner rock scene.
History[]
Fuck The Fitzroy Doom Scene was founded in February 2013 by Dave Ferguson, whom recruited three of the best musicians he knew in the heavy rock scene. Despite forming in 2013 the band would hold off until early 2014 for their first gig at The Tote on 14 January 2014.[2] The band got offered their first gig when another band canceled and built themselves up from that point, gaining more gigs in the Australian heavy scene.[3]
Working with Andrew Hehir at SoundPark Studios in Northcote, Victoria the band would record a debut album in late 2014, culminating in their debut album Facing The Ruin on 30 May 2015 to positive reviews.[4][5][6] An album launch party would take place on 5 June 2015 at The Ding Dong Lounge.[7] By the end of the next year the band had a new song in "Dead Forever After", releasing a single for it on 19 November 2016 at a launch party at the Northcote Social Club.[8]
In the time between albums Fuck The Fitzroy Doom Scene would share the stage with a wide arrangement of bands be it fellow locals such as Child, A Basket Of Mammoths and Weedy Gonzales among touring acts such as Windhand,[9] Truckfighters,[10] Red Fang,[11] Acid King,[12] Nick Oliveri[13] and Brant Bjork[14] just to name a few. Working again with Andrew Hehir the band would work on a second album, releasing The Future Looks Clear on CD and Digital circa 4 October 2018. A Vinyl edition would see release in early 2020 with a launch party on 8 February at Northcote Social Club.[15]
