Age of the Wolf are a doom metal / sludge /stoner band from San Jose, Costa Rica.

The band coins their music as "Fuzz Worshiping Doom", Doom infused with Stoner, catchy riffs, with the heaviness and emotion of Sludge.

History[]

The Early Days (2015 - 2016)[]

Age of the Wolf was born in 2015, with the idea of creating a Metal/Hard Rock focus, with pieces of Stoner within the riffs. Their first show was during Semana B at the University of Costa Rica (UCR).

First EP & Line-Up Change (2016 - 2018)[]

The band released their first EP independently on March 21st, 2016.

After the release of the EP, the band had two major line-up changes. Jorge Camacho comes into the band as the new bass player and Gabriel Ortiz comes in as the new drummer. This line-up change provided to be a great push for the group, which made them head towards a much heavier, dirtier and overall bigger sound.

Ouroboric Trances (2019)[]

In early 2019, the band signs a record deal with Aural Music, an italian label well known for discovering and signing new talent around the globe. The band's debut album, Ouroboric Trances, was released on May 10th, 2019 on CD, Digital and Vinyl. From then on, the band started to get more shows, making 2019 a busy year.

In September of the same year, the band parts ways with their original guitar plater, Beto Ramirez, and invited J.C. Zuñiga to join the band.

The Pandemic Era (2020 - 2022)[]

The band was set to play their first U.S. show at the Stoner Jam in Austin, Texas in March. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, all activities had to be cancelled until further notice. Though this was a setback, the band decides to take the anxiety and letdown and start creating new music, along with creating new projects as well. In August, the band released a live video performance of their song "Herald of Abyssos ", celebrating the first anniversary of Ouroboric Trances.

In September, the band creates a record label to start promoting local underground bands and artists, which goes under the name, Cognitive Discordance Records. Their first release was Memorial (B-Sides), which contains a new, re imagined version of the song, plus an acoustic version and their recent live recording of "Herald of Abyssos" was included as a bonus track.

To kick off 2021, the group participates in their first US virtual fest, Mutants of the Monster, curated by C.T. of Rwake. On August 13th 2021, the band released their upcoming Split titled "Vigils", which will be along side Aural Music label mates TEL. It was released via Electric Talon Records.

A Pilgrimage to Nowhere (2023)[]

In March 2023, the band announced the release of their sophomore album titled A Pilgrimage to Nowhere. The album was released on May 19th, 2023 on CD/Digital via Sleeping Church Records and Tape via Three Moons Records.

This concept album follows the story created in their split with TEL. It tells a journey of devastation and creation, a thunderous decision that entangles all living things to a dire path. In this new release, the band embarks in a conceptual adventure along with the album's protagonist, into an introspective journey, which leaves you with heavy, raw, and nostalgic feelings, all with the expected experimentation and psychedelia the band delivers.
