Early Works Compilation is a two-disc compilation by the Japanese doom metal band Church of Misery. A collection of all of the recordings from 1998 - 2000 featuring original drummer Hideki Shimizu and second singer Nobukazu Chow. It would be originally released in 2004 via Japanese label Leaf Hound Records, with the album cover a parody of the iconic 1966 Beach Boys album Pet Sounds. On 1 May 2010, American label Emetic Records would re-issue the 2CD along with a 3LP edition limited to 500 copies on black vinyl. A diehard "blood box" on Red Vinyl would also be released, limited to 166 copies.[1] It would be reissued again in 2021 via Totem Cat Records.
There are several typos in the booklet (corrected in the tracklisting below):
- Track 1-2 is credited "Road To Ruin (Charles Whiteman)". The mass murderer is however correctly spelled Charles Whitman.
- Track 1-5 is called "Room 213 (Jeffery Dahmer)". The serialkiller is correctly spelled Jeffrey Dahmer.
- Track 2-1 is called "Murder Company (Henly Lee Lucas)". The serialkiller is correctly spelled Henry Lee Lucas.
- Track 2-8 is called "Retal (Howord Unruh)". The mass murderer is correctly spelled Howard Unruh.
