Dave Patchett is a painter and visual artist based out of England. Working full-time since 1982, he is best known as the cover artist for the Coventry doom metal band Cathedral. Dave's relationship with Cathedral started when Lee Dorrian saw his works in a gallery window, and left a message for him, asking if he'd be interested to design an album sleeve. Patchett would go on to contribute to all ten of the band's studio albums, along with other works.
Along with Cathedral, Patchett had collaborated with a handful of other artists, the first of which being the eponymous debut album by Electric Wizard. Patchett also notably contributed to the 2003 Iron Maiden album Dance of Death. The computer-generated cover art for the album was provided by David Patchett, but he asked to be removed from the credits because he was not satisfied with the result. The version used was actually a prototype provided by Patchett, but the band decided to use it in its incomplete form.
Currently, he's provided art for the Norwegian progressive doom band Hex A.D., having done artwork for three of their albums.
