Dave Harwell is a former bassist best known as a founding member of Earth alongside Dylan Carlson. Harwell would perform bass on the band's first demo recorded at Smegma Studios in Portland, Oregon circa 1990. Three of the seven songs recorded would appear as an EP entitled Extra-Capsular Extraction in October 1991. Carlson and Harwell would perform gigs as Earth but it's not known if the duo ever toured. Eventually in 1993 the duo would release Earth 2 - Special Low Frequency Version, which is widely considered a pioneering and highly influential album in the drone doom genre. Harwell would leave the band not long after it's release and would cut contact with Carlson entirely.[1]
