Ciudad de Brahman (Brahman's City) is the second studio album by the Argentinian stoner rock band Natas, released initially in 1999 via Man's Ruin Records. Recording in California with Dale Crover of Melvins notoriety, the band's second album still shows off stoner rock but hints at more psychedelic, space rock and experimental sounds.
Background[]
In 1998 Man's Ruin Records would issue the band's debut album Delmar (Originally released in 1996.) and attract worldwide attention of Los Natas, then known as Natas. The trio would go to the United States to record the next album from the end of 1998 to January 1999, performing a handful of shows in the States while working with Dale Crover and Tim Green at Louder Studios. Mastering would take place at Fantasy Studios, though uncredited.
Notably nine of the fourteen for the album previously came from a demo known as Rutation, initially released among friends in 1997 and then released in 2011 with the full set of demo songs. In regards to reissues, Ciudad de Brahman would initially be issued on vinyl for the first time via Elektrohasch Schallplatten in 2008 (750 Black, 250 Yellow). South American Sludge would handle a remastered CD reissue in 2018 while Argonauta Records would compose a vinyl reissue (300 Yellow) in 2019.
Ciudad de Brahman has been cited as one of Los Natas' finest works, praised at the time and retroactively by the likes of Sputnik Music (4.5/5),[1] AllMusic (4/5 Stars),[2] Rotation 11[3] and The Obelisk[4] to name a few.
