Cigale (2015) |
Cigale is the eponymous debut and only album by the Dutch psychedelic band Cigale. Recorded in a small house in a forest somewhere in the Netherlands. It was created (almost) completely by the band itself, from the recording to the mixing and from sleevedesign to the final product, with exception to Will Dammeier handling the mastering. Cigale would be released on 18 April 2015 on digital and CD-R formats, with a release party held the same day.[1] It would be the only recordings of the band as Rutger Smeets would pass away six months later.
Cigale would attain praise from the likes of More Fuzz,[2] La Habitaction[3] Doommabbestia[4] and The Obelisk[5] the latter publication ranking the album #10 on their mid-year list[6] and #7 on "The Top 30 Albums of 2015".[7]
