Church of Misery / Sourvein are two split 7" releases, featuring the Japanese doom metal band Church of Misery and the Carolina sludge metal band Sourvein. Both splits would see release in 2006 amid both bands' European tour that year, better known as No Sleep Til' Halloween European Tour 2006. The Dada Drumming 7" would be limited to 500 copies and came in a clear plastic protective with postcard sized insert. A re-release on black vinyl with picture cover followed in 2007. The Calculon Records 7" would be limited to 500 copies on heavy white vinyl.
In regards to Sourvein's tracks "Doldrums" would be recorded at Sniper Studios circa August 2005 while "Nightwing" would be recorded on 31 December. Both songs would appear on the 2008 EP Ghetto Angel. Church of Misery's tracks would be recorded by Ryo Iwazaki at On Air Studios. "For Mad Man Only" would be recorded on 8 December while "Mesmerization Eclipse" and "Song For The Dead" would be recorded on 23 December. They would be the last recordings with guitarist Takenori Hoshi before his departure in the Spring of 2006. All three Church of Misery songs would appear as bonus tracks on the 2011 vinyl reissue of The Second Coming.
