COC-Blind (Also known as Blind, Karl Agell's Blind and Corrosion of Conformity - Blind) was a tribute group founded in 2002 and performed in various years to follow. This off-shoot group was founded by former Corrosion of Conformity members Karl Agell, Reed Mullin and Phil Swisher to perform the 1991 COC album Blind along with various other songs.
The first show Blind tribute set took place on 21 April 2002 as part of a tribute to the late Confessor singer Ivan Colon. It's unknown who would perform on guitar for this set.[1]
On 20 December 2006, Agell would relaunch the project as Karl Agell's Blind. Along with Agell, the band featured Leadfoot members Scott Little on guitar, bassist Paul Walz and Bill Eagen on drums. Guitarist John Pereksta would round out the lineup[2] but was replaced by "TR" at the last minute. The band performed eight songs from Blind along with covers.[3][4]
In early 2009 the next set of COC-Blind shows would be announced, this time as Corrosion of Conformity - Blind. For the first time since 1993, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY (C.O.C.) founding member Reed Mullin (drums) and Karl Agell, singer on the CORROSION OF CONFORMITY album "Blind" are back together playing the entire original version of that classic 1991 LP. Dubbed CORROSION OF CONFORMITY - BLIND, the group's lineup is completed by Scott Little from Agell's band LEADFOOT, and Jason Browning and Jerry Barrett, both of whom were previously in BAD BRAINS singer HR's solo group.[5]
This would be the most active iteration of the tribute and even with the Animosity era lineup of COC reforming, Mullin would perform with both groups.[6] The band would tour the East coast alongside Age of Despair.
The project would host another show on Sunday, November 9 at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina. The concert is a benefit for Katherine Ludwig, former editor of the long-running heavy metal magazine Metal Maniacs, who is battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Notably, the concert was organized by Alicia Morgan of 13 notoriety.[7]
In 2015, the project would tour as support to Cavalera Conspiracy, Death Angel and Lody Kong.[8] These would be the last known shows of COC-Blind, as Mullin would perform with COC and the reunited lineup with Pepper Keenan onward, until his death in 2020.
