BongCauldron was a sludge/rock and roll power trio based out of Leeds, England. Describing themselves as "Intoxicating Party Sludge" and "Northern sludge idiots" this band performed meaty sludge in the vein of Eyehategod and Sourvein. Through a run spanning eight years this band released one album and four EPs.

History[]

BongCauldron got their start in late trio, with their first gig taking place on 7 April 2012.[1] An EP would follow in October 2012 among several local gigs. In 2014 the band would re-release their 2012 EP via SuperHot Records with a new mix and an extra track. A release show would take place on 23 January 2014 at The Fenton in Leeds (With Nomad, DSDNT, Ten Foot Wizard).[2] A tour would follow with Nomad that September.

A two song EP entitled Acid Cattle would see release digitally on 1 April 2015, followed by a tour with Gurt and PIST that same month. Work would also begin on a debut studio album, eventually recording with Chris Fielding at Skyhammer Studio. The band would also sign with the Manchester-based label APF Records.

Binge would see release on 30 November 2017 to generally positive reviews,[3][4][5] following with a release party on 9 December 2017 at The Fenton with Kurokuma, Battalions and RedEye Revival.[6]

BongCauldron would largely perform local gigs, all-dayers and gigs supporting touring acts, sharing the stage with the likes of Dopelord, Eyehategod, Conan, Noothgrush, Desert Storm, XII Boar and Weedeater to name a few. The band would also release another EP in Tyke on 12 October 2018.

On 5 July 2019 it would be announced that BongCauldron would be calling it a day after two more shows: 19 July in Manchester supporting Alunah and The Obsessed and an appearance at Bloodstock Festival on The Sophie Lancaster Stage.[7][8]
