Blowback were a stoner rock quartet based out of Örebro. Forming in 2004 this band established a sound described as "big Witchcraft meets little Dozer", evoking heavy riffs mixed with the groove of the 70´s. The band also draws inspiration from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Kyuss and Orange Goblin among others.[1] In their tenure spanning roughly seven or eight years the band managed to release two studio albums.

History

Blowback’s story begins long before their formation in 2004. According to their website, Seb and Stefan played together in several bands over the course of 10-13 years, and then they started jamming with Chris around 8 years ago. In 2004, the band officially formed when they added on drummer, Henke.[2] With a love for heavy and retro rock, the quartet began performing in Sweden and managed to compose a demo EP the same year. Attaining the attention of Fuzzorama, Blowback would have a few songs placed on a split with Asteroid, released on CD circa 21 April 2006. At this point the band had been sharing the stage with the likes of Asteroid, Witchcraft, Burning Saviours and Dead Man just to name a few.[3]

By some point in 2007 the quartet would begin work on their debut album, eventually releasing Morning Wood in 2008. Though not really noticed by critics the band would get signed to Transbustans and tour Europe in support of the album. Finding a growth and a pinpoint to their sound, Blowback would begin work on their second studio album. 800 Miles would be released on 30 November 2009 to positive acclaim from critics in the stoner circle such as It's a Trap,[4] Bravewords,[5] Metal Covenant[6] and The Obelisk[7] to name a few. Blowback would tour twice through parts of Europe in 2010 supporting the album.

While the exact time of their dissolution isn't known it is known the band is no longer active, their last known tour being in 2011 with Been Obscene.
