Black Shape of Nexus (Also known as B.Son) was a doom band based out of Mannheim, Germany. Active from 2005 - 2016 this quintet (Sometimes sextet) composed doom that also deviated into nihilistic sludge or even drone metal, with a free range to experiment. In their eleven year run the band released four albums along with a host of other releases, often touring Germany or Europe.
History[]
Black Shape of Nexus would be founded sometime in 2005 and soon after forming, composed a demo entitled B.Son in January 2006. Working with engineer Ralf Bernhardt and featuring mastering by James Plotkin (Khanate), work would begin on a debut album. Signing to Vendetta Records, Black Shape of Nexus would release their eponymous debut in the summer of 2007, touring Germany to support it. A follow-up in Microbarome Meetings saw release the next July.
Following touring through Germany and later further parts of Europe over the next couple years the band would go relatively quiet, eventually signing to Exile on Mainstream. The nearly eighty minute Negative Black would be released on 20 April 2012 to generally positive reviews, with the band touring that April to support the album. Over the years the band released several songs on compilations, leading to many of those songs appearing in a collection known as Nothing New - 10 Years of Fresh Air Enjoyment on 4 December 2015.
Circa 18 March 2016 the band would release their final album Carrier, notably featuring a cover of "Triumph of Death" originally performed by Hellhammer. However nearly four months later in the month of July, Black Shape of Nexus would disband with a statement on their page: "B.Son Are Fucking Dead! 2005 - 2016".
