Black Math Horseman is a psychedelic post-metal group out of Los Angeles, active between 2007 and 2013, reforming in 2020.
History[]
Black Math Horseman formed in 2007 and quickly composed a three-song demo whilst performing around California. In January 2009 the band would sign to Tee Pee Records and by April during a tour of SXSW in Texas the band would release their only studio album Wyllt. Eventually the band would go on to further touring including an appearance at Roadburn Festival amid a tour of Europe in 2011.
Black Math Horseman announced their split on June 21, 2013 (summer solstice), saying "We started writing music as friends to form Black Math Horseman. It has been an inspired journey, but we've decided that BMH is a one-record project." A recording of "All Apologies" appeared posthumously on the Nirvana tribute In Utero, In Tribute, In Entirety via Robotic Empire in 2014.
Sera Timms would go on to bee involved with Ides of Gemini, Black Mare and Zun. Tulao and Popovic would work as live performers for MGR, the former also a live backing musician for Chelsea Wolfe and the latter performing in Mother Tongue.
Black Math Horseman would reform in 2020 for a 22 March performance at The Echoplex with Human Impact and Yob.[1]
