Black Cat Bone was a hard rock/blues rock band based out of Lexington, Kentucky. This trio would perform retro rock and blues, signing with Chameleon Records for their debut album Truth. Little is known of the band's activity beyond the release of Truth though it is known a second album was recorded before disbanding around 1993. McGee took on the role of frontman with Root Hog before founding Taildragger whilst Angstrom forged Supafuzz and later as a member of Hermano.

Real would be released in 2004 via Mine's Bigger Than Yours, with bonus tracks including covers of Mountain and Cream.
