Beast In The Field was an instrumental stoner/doom band from Michigan, active between 2007 and 2016. Known for their satanic undertones and colossal amp setup ala Jucifer in live settings, this duo released five studio albums in their tenure, all of which on independent label Saw Her Ghost.

History[]

Beast in the Field formed in 2007 after the dissolution of Michigan melodeath/metalcore band And The Sky Went Red. They began writing right away and recorded within six months of formation. With an interest in a colossal live sound and heavy doom atmosphere. Early on the band performed local shows in the Michigan area, some venues in question banning the band for their monolithic loudness.[1] On 13 October 2007 the band would release their debut Goat Isle Seance on Saw Her Ghost. From there the band kept performing in the Michigan area, sharing the stage with the likes of Child Bite and Russian Circles to name a few.

Beast in the Field would release their second album Lechuguilla on 13 March 2009 and begin performing outside of Michigan in the surrounding states such as Ohio, Illinois, D.C. and Virginia. The next year the band would compose and release a third album World Ending on 23 February 2010, followed by a lengthy tour of the United States in support of the record. Keeping with the apocalyptic tone a fourth album entitled Lucifer, Bearer of Light was released on 29 March 2011, followed by more US touring and Michigan festival appearances.

The band would find "regular stops" in towns they liked playing and also were a frequent band to appear at Michigan based festivals such as Dirt Fest and at least one edition of Berserker Fest. The group's fifth (and final) album The Sacred Above the Sacred Below was released on 19 March 2013, with the band's only live album The Astral Path to Satan's Throne following the next year and featuring a 20-page book to compliment the live radio recording.

The band had intents of a sixth album entitled In The Name of Hell set for a 2016 release.[2] However on 6 April 2016 after a string of canceled shows it was announced Beast In The Field was calling it quits, performing their final live show on 30 April with Nuke and Bison Machine.[3]
