BXI is a collaborative EP by the Japanese band Boris and the Cult lead vocalist Ian Astbury. The EP was released in September 2010 in CD, black, blue and pink vinyl, and digital formats through Southern Lord Records, notably the final Boris release on the label.[1] Astbury would be invited to join the band for a collaboration and flew to Japan to record in April 2010.[2] Boris and Ian Astbury had performed live together, including on 30 May 2010, at the Sydney Opera House (Performing the BXI EP and "The End" by The Doors)[3] and on 7 September 2010, at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple in Brooklyn, New York.[4]
BXI would attain largely mixed reviews from critics. While some reviews would be positive such as The Skinny (4 Stars)[5] and The Quietus,[6] other critics would not be as receptive to the EP.[7][8][9][10]
