Astral Lynx is a four piece Psychedelic Rock band currently based in London, England with origins in Australia.[1] They released their first, MOON (under their former moniker MOON) in February 2015.
History[]
Astral Lynx's origins lay in Australia when guitarist, Julian Millership (Jules), and drummer, Dean Cass, were traveling around the country. They met the guitarist, Matt Sullivan, in Fremantle, Western Australia in 2009 and formed the earliest incarnation of the band, prior to naming themselves. In 2011, Jules and Dean reached the end of their visa for traveling Australia and all three members resettled in London, England in 2013. When they settled in England, they named themselves MOON, which would be their moniker until mid 2015. A few line-up changes occurred over the life of the band with vocalist, Mark Crow, and bassist Bobby Greaves having short spells in the band. James Christian took the mantle as current bassist. 2014 saw MOON support Glasgow based psychedelic band The Cosmic Dead at Manchester's Soup Kitchen.
Over the winter of 2014 and 2015, still under the name MOON, they recorded their debut EP MOON at a self-assembled studio in London. Their friend, Alfred Loveless, oversaw the production. The EP was released on 4th February 2015 via Bandcamp.[2]. MOON played the 2015 edition of Cosmosis at Antwerp Mansion in Manchester. On May 5th 2015, the band announced on Facebook that they were changing their name to Astral Lynx.[3]
Following the release of a few singles, Astral Lynx would release their first and only album, Flow, on 1 June 2016.[4] To support the release the band would play at Brick Lane Psych Festival[5] and Hackney Wonderland.[6]
The band's last social media posts to date were in April 2017, ultimately with the band unlikely to still be active.[7]
