Self-described as "hefty metal", ASTHMA CASTLE is a unique, riff-heavy blend of stoner metal/rock, heavy metal, prog metal, and sludge that seamlessly melds styles together to keep listeners guessing what will come next. Based in Baltimore, MD, Asthma Castle features members of Pig Destroyer, Misery Index, Scour, and Integrity.
History[]
Asthma Castle formed in 2008 after the collapse of Justin's previous band. In an effort to return to his heavy metal roots, Justin met up in Baltimore with guitarist Cameron and they began to write riffs for what would become Asthma Castle songs. After recruiting the drummer of Justin's previous band and vocalist Matt "Drunkna" Yukna, they finished writing and entered Serious Studios in York, PA in 2009 to record their self-released EP, Jesus, Mary, and Broseph.
After playing in and around the Baltimore area throughout the next year, they unofficially disbanded until being resurrected in 2011 when Adam and Jeff joined the band. The new lineup went on to play Maryland Deathfest in 2012 and began writing for an album. After sporadic live shows for the following few years, they finished writing and recorded the music for what would become their debut album, Mount Crushmore. However with recording the album, Matt Yukna would leave the group with Seth taking over on vocal duties.
