Arktos are an extreme metal duo from Lexington, Kentucky, active since late 2012. The band was initially formed as a side project between Stampede members Adrian Dickerson and Clay Rice before eventually becoming a more active project years later. Their sound pulls from a multitude of different metal genres such as death metal, black metal, doom metal and psychedelic rock to scratch the surface.
The band has shared the stage with the likes of Hivelords, Zombi and many of the local bands within Lexington's scene, sometimes involved in showcases entitled Night of The Living Duos.
History[]
Arktos began sometime in the summer of 2012 with their debut show happening at the Green Lantern on 14 December 2012 alongside Blood Pheasant and Ghost Affirmation.[1] From there the band's appearances at shows would be sporadic and limited to a couple appearances a year, making them an enigmatic rarity within the scene.
In late 2015 going into 2016 the band would make more frequent live appearances while beginning work on a debut album. Arktos would finish recording their debut record in late February.[2] The band's debut entitled Bringer of Light was released on 12 March 2017 with physical CDs released at Blood of The Wolf Fest. Following a few more shows the project quietly disbanded.
