Admiral Browning are an progressive doom metal band from Middletown, Maryland. They play a self-described "stoner-prog instru-metal" that combines Stoner Metal, Progressive and Psychedelic influences. They were formed in 2002 and have been actively gigging since 2005, playing over a hundred shows mostly in the MD/DC/VA area and up and down the East Coast. To date the band had released three studio albums among several extended plays.

History[]

Admiral Browning formed in 2002. Originally named "Admiral Browning and the Loose Caboose," the band started as a four-piece improv/instrumental band with shifting lineups before settling around founding members Tim Otis (drums) and Matt LeGrow (guitar), along with John Marion (guitar) and Ron McGinnis (bass). This lineup recorded the Maiden Voyage EP (2005) with studio contributions from bassist Paul Grabenstein, and full-length Dead Pets (2007) gigging mostly in the DC/MD/VA area. Guitarist John Marion left soon thereafter, and the three remaining members continued as a trio, releasing Magic Elixir (2009), Battle Stations (2011), Give No Quarter (2013).

Gigging locally and nationally to promote these releases, the Admiral became a fixture in the Maryland Doom scene and festival circuit, playing at Stoner Hands of Doom (SHoD) 7,8,10,11,12 and 13, Cabin Kegger of Doom 1-3, Riffest 2008, Days of the Doomed, Born to Be Doomed, and the inaugural Maryland Doom Fest, along with numerous local benefit gigs. After the release of Corvette Summer EP (2015), guitarist Matt LeGrow relocated and the band is currently in hibernation, jamming/gigging occasionally. Drummer Tim Otis joined Akris, while bassist Fezz continues with Pale Divine, Thonian Horde, B&O Railroad, and Bailjack.
