2022 Shows (2022) |
2022 Shows (Also known as A Tribute of Eric Wagner) is a series of live performances by The Skull. Featuring the lineup at the time along with various guest vocalists, these concerts would be hosted as a tribute to Eric Wagner, whom passed away in August 2022.
Background[]
In an April 2022 interview conducted by MetalKaoz, Ron Holzner would reveal there would be tribute shows to Eric Wagner performed by the Skull.[1] The first show would be hosted at Reggies in Chicago on 18 June 2022, with Bruce Lamont (Yakuza) and Karl Agell (Corrosion of Conformity, Leadfoot) filling the vocal role. A second memorial show would also be in the works.[2][3]
On 17 August, two more memorial shows would be announced. The first would be on 27 August 2022 as part of the Midwest Metal Anthem[4] while the second would be an exclusive appearance at Hammer of Doom Festival. Both sets would feature Karl Agell on vocals along with Scott Reagers (Saint Vitus) as a special guest.[5] Notably, Trouble guitarist Bruce Franklin would join the band at the Midwest Metal Anthem set for six songs.[6] Original Candlemass vocalist Johan Längquist would also perform with the band as a guest at Hammer of Doom on 19 November.
Eventually a short tour of Europe would be composed that November, though Reagers' guest appearance in Europe would be exclusive to Hammer of Doom.[7] Further details would surface on 19 October, confirming that this would be The Skull's final full tour.[8] The Skull would still have live performances in 2023, along with many of the members forming a new project in Legion of Doom.
